Welcome to the 12 days of mindfulness!
Since the end of the year is fast approaching, I thought it was the perfect time to go over my most popular mindfulness challenges this year.
The more we practice and read, the better our brain retains the information we’ve learned. As you’ve probably learned, I am a huge reader. I constantly go back to books I’ve read to re-read the information. I hope you will do the same!
You can print or download the 12 Days of Mindfulness calendar. If you choose to download you can click on the challenge link each day to get you to the article.
Day 1
What is Mindfulness? It’s probably a new (or fairly new) word to you. However, it’s been around for a very long time and is probably not going away. (For all you guys reading this, Clint Eastwood practices mindfulness. So yes, you can still be manly and practice mindfulness) The fact is, it works and is becoming more popular each day. This article will help you understand what mindfulness is and what It isn’t.
Day 2
Forgive yourself. Everyone says we are supposed to forgive others to have a healthy life, but what about forgiving yourself? If you want peace of mind, then take a moment and forgive yourself.
Day 3
Just be. This article is about a mindfulness technique called R.A.I.N. and is used to check in with ourselves before we react to situations.
Day 4
Breathe mindfully. If you only learn one mindfulness practice and use it daily, let it be this one. There are so many benefits to breathing properly and it is the practice I use most often. Give it a try!
Day 5
Simplify your life. Want to be happier and healthier? Get rid of stuff that weighs you down. This article gives you all the benefits of having a life of simplicity.
Day 6
Let go. While not an actual mindfulness challenge, it is an important part of mindfulness. Letting go of things that do not serve you any longer. This is the perfect time of year to look at your life and see what you need to let go of to be happier.
Day 7
Spend time in nature. This is one of my favorites and another one that I practice most often. Why? Because I love nature and I love being outside. There are so many benefits to connecting to nature and we will be exploring this even more in the year to come.
Day 8
Love yourself. Each day we abuse our bodies by not eating healthy, using alcohol, tobacco, medications or other substances. This is about thanking our bodies for all the hard work it puts in when we are not taking care of it as we should.
Day 9
Eat mindfully. Have you ever tasted your food? I mean really tasted and loved each bite of the food you put into your mouth? If you want to experience your food like never before, read this article.
Day 10
Listen deeply to someone. You can’t learn anything in life unless you listen to others. Most people listen with the intent to respond, but that is not how to properly listen. This article goes over how to start practicing deep listening.
Day 11
Forgive someone. When we forgive people who’ve hurt us, we are healing ourselves. This doesn’t mean we allow them to hurt us again or let them back into our lives. It means that we love ourselves enough to let go of another person’s actions.
Day 12
There is no article here. This day is a time for you to practice what you’ve learned. Put away your electronic devices and just live in the moment. Live this beautiful life you’ve been given.
