My guy owns a food truck, and that means I get a front-row seat to many arts and crafts festivals throughout the year. I love this because I get to meet so many interesting people. As a photographer myself, getting to see other artisans do their thing is so inspiring.
These are my favorite small business artisans (and beautiful souls) that I have met and admired throughout his year:
Nature Made
I met Matt and Jordan (and their adorable baby) at a Grateful Dead tribute festival this past summer. Just as the name states, they make jewelry and art out of natural items. Having been born in 1970, I have an appreciation for macrame, and they create some lovely macrame pieces. Check out their sunglass as well!
Killion Pottery
I love pottery, so while I spent twenty good minutes holding and envisioning her pieces in my own home, I finally decided on a beautiful blue bowl. She does amazing work. Make sure you check out her berry bowls!
Flour & Love Confections
My guy and I were at a gypsy fair festival when I first met Lisa. I don’t eat a lot of sweets anymore because of my Lupus, but after I walked by drooling over her macrons, I finally had to stop. The best macarons I’ve ever had the pleasure of eating. Fig and Goat Cheese was my favorite. If you want to check out all her deserts, you can find her on Facebook at Flour+Love Confections.
Cutting Edge Plasma
Anything you can think of Shane can create on metal. I have several of his items in my home and garden area. If you need a metal sign, firepits, memorial markers, contact him on Facebook or his website. Make sure to check out his American Flag designs.
Trades of Hope
I met Kathy has a festival early on in 2019. I could tell the jewelry she had on display was unique and started to inquire if she created it. She explained that Trades of Hope was founded by a woman named Gretchen. She wanted to help other women in third world countries so they could take care of themselves and their children, so she developed Trades of Hope. I love this! They offer all types of products that are handcrafted by artisans in several countries.
Art Inspired by The Muse
Marty is a stone sculptor and has some unique pieces. If you want something beautiful and different, check out his work.
Yano Dyes Happy
The most exciting and colorful couple I met this year was Yano and Ashlee. I say colorful because they make lovely tie-dye apparel and tapestries. I listened to Yano as he talked about attending the very first Woodstock, and he had recently made an unbelievable tapestry for this year Woodstock reunion (that, unfortunately, was canceled). If you need some tie-dye clothes, visit Ashlee and Yano.
And I must shout out to another artisan I met; her name is Julie Hall, but I can’t seem to find her business card. All I know is she, and I spent fifteen minutes talking, and I felt like I was speaking to a younger version of myself. We loved so many of the same things, and I hope our paths cross again.
I hope to run into these wonderful individuals again in 2020 and looking forward to who I will meet next in my travels.
