Do you know what 2019 meant for you? This is my last article of the year and I wanted to take a moment to reflect on my growth and lessons I’ve learned this year.
Personally, I feel I have grown a tremendous amount this year. It always amazes me no matter how old we get, you can always keep learning something new. I never thought I would create and write a blog, but here I am doing just that. I finally learned what they hell SEO means and the importance of scheduling social media posts at certain times of the day. Who knew?
I’ve stepped out of my comfort zone and put myself out there. Made my first video post (without makeup on) and it only took 23 tries.
I got a new name! January of this year I was sitting in class when my instructor looks at me and says, “Pamela, that’s your name?”. I confirmed that yes that was my name. He proceeds to tell me that I don’t look like a Pamela and he isn’t going to call me that. Instead, he decides to drop the Pam of Pamela and announces my name going forward is Ela. I’ve never really liked my name, so why didn’t I think of this year’s ago? I love Ela and I’ve always loved writing the letter E. So this is a win!
This year I learned to open myself up to new experiences and that resulted in meeting many beautiful souls. People that are good and filled with love that I now consider friends. I love people that want to be happy and see others being happy. I always want to surround myself with like-minded people. This year I also realized that the more I let go of those things not meant for me, the more time I have for things that are meant for me. My beautiful friends support and encourage me and I do the same for them. I am so thankful for those in my life who keep it real.
Oddly, I am even thankful for those who have lied about me, wronged me, judged me and hated me then portrayed themselves as the victim. I am so thankful for all of you. You’ve shown me exactly who I never want to be. Because of you, I am more grateful for the person I am and the changes I’ve made in my life.
Shovel the shit and all that’s left is green grass. – Ela
I spent precious moments with my youngest son as he started his new journey in life. While my oldest son and his beautiful girl announced I would be a grandma in 2020. I love seeing my boys being authentic, happy and full of love.
Then there is my guy. It astonishes me that three years later he can still give me butterflies. I am finally starting to realize that this is the kind of love I deserve and should have held out for my entire life. He gets me and loves me like no one ever has. He is my best friend.
Finally, I’m grateful for life. This beautiful amazing life can be anything we make it. We are all truly the author of our own story and I look forward to what my next chapter will be.
Next year we are focusing on happiness and balance in our lives. If you have not already signed up for our weekly mindfulness challenge but would like to, please do so here. I would love you to be a part of this mindful tribe.
