The other night I was on Pinterest when I came across a person that had gotten a tattoo of a book title that changed their life. I thought what a great idea that was! I immediately told my guy that I was getting a tattoo. The word? Happiness, which was the very first book I ever read on mindfulness. I decided I would do this to celebrate my upcoming birthday.
I am turning fifty in a few months, and it means so much to me. Fifteen years ago, my Lupus doctor told me that I wouldn’t live to see fifty if I didn’t start taking care of myself. As a woman, I believed it was my job to take care of everyone else first. However, I learned that’s not true. Our body, mind, and spirit should be our top priority. When we are healthy, we can then take care of those around us much better. This conversation led me to start my journey of eating healthy, practicing yoga, meditation, and mindfulness.

All of this got me to thinking. How do I want to spend my last few months before I turn fifty? I concluded I was doing it having fun and honoring my soul. Therefore, I came up with my 50 ideas to celebrate being fifty. Some, I’ve done before, but they are a part of who I am, so I want to do them again before I hit the big 5-0. Others are things I’ve wanted to do, but haven’t made the time to do them. Until now!

Now I turn fifty in a little over three months, which means I need to get my butt busy checking these off.
