I’ve never been a fan of taking medications that aren’t necessary when I can do so holistically. That was no different when two years year ago, I realized my body was telling me I was starting menopause.
The following information is how I am handling menopause. What worked for me and what is not. If going through menopause naturally is something you are interested in doing, I suggest you talk to your doctor. Let him know this is the approach you want to take.

My first indication that I was going through menopause was the only argument (well sort of an argument) that I had with my guy. I wasn’t making any sense. I was upset and saying things that didn’t sound like me. I’ve always been a calm person. I don’t have a temper, and I don’t get upset quickly. I couldn’t even believe the things that were coming out of my mouth. The next day I tried to process what that was all about. I had no idea but knew I wouldn’t let that happen again.
Two months passed by when (If you are a guy reading this, stop here now) I had sex, and it was painful. Like my girl parts or poonany (as I like to call her) was on fire. I had no idea what was going on.
When I jumped on the scale, I noticed a gain of about ten pounds. That’s when I realized what was going on. I was forty-eight, and menopause had begun.
I decided to order some natural estrogen and see if it helped. After a few days, I noticed my symptoms were going away.
That’s when I knew it was menopause. Now you might be thinking maybe it’s a coincidence. Nope, I’ve been taking natural estrogen since, and each time I fail to do so for a few days, the same symptoms return.
For the first year, I played around with different holistic ways of taking care of my menopause naturally. I will discuss each thing I tried and what worked for me. Please note that if you are a person who cares for yourself holistically, then you probably know that each of us is different. What works for me might not work for you. I encourage each of you to try and see. A different combination of herbs might be a better fit for you.
The following are all the things I tried to help me go through menopause naturally. What worked for me and what I currently use now.
Genius Estrogen Balance DIM
A hormone balance supplement. It contains black pepper and grape seed extract. I’m certain it helps many because it has great reviews. The nutrients it supplies I think I get plenty of buy eating my greens, so for me, I didn’t notice a huge difference. While I think it would be great for many, it didn’t have the ingredients I was looking for (wild yam and maca root).
Carlson Key-E Suppositories Lubricant
If you are going through menopause, you will need to start using a lubricant. Coconut and palm oils are the ingredients, which I love. Two, you can put it in hours before you have sex and forget about it.
Organic Vaginal Moisturizer by Bee Friendly
If you are suffering from burning and itching symptoms, this is excellent stuff. Also, used as a personal lubricant. I put it on after I took a shower each night when I first started having these issues. Now I only use as needed when I feel like I’m getting low on estrogen, and these symptoms start coming back up.
Vulva Balm Cream
Another excellent lubricant that I’ve used. It does the same as the one I mentioned above, and I use it in the same way. There is no difference in the other one I suggest, but I always try to keep one or the other on hand.
LFI Labs Restore
Restore was the first supplement I used. It contains black cohosh and don quai to help balance hormones. I can’t say what I did and didn’t like about it. I think it worked fine, but I found another supplement that I felt worked better for me.
Life Seasons Pausitivi-T
My supplement of choice for over a year. It contains black cohosh, soy isoflavones, and other herbs to help balance my hormones.
Maca Root Red
I keep maca root around in powder form and add it to my smoothies. Maca root is great to balance your hormones, increase your libido (oh yes it does), and helps with anxiety.
Go with The Flow Hormonal Balance by Happy Healthy Hippie
I ran out of maca root, and my life seasons supplement about the same time a little over a month ago. That’s when I ran into this. It contains all the herbs that my body requires that I was currently using with those two products. So far, so good! I haven’t noticed any menopause symptoms since taking this, and I cut out an extra step.
Bio-Identical USP Progesterone Cream
Remember when I said above, I was looking for something with Wild Yam? This cream is it. If I go a day or two without using this, I notice menopause symptoms. It is super easy to use. One little pump from the bottle and I rub under my arm, lower back or behind my knee after I get out of the shower each night.
Let’s do a recap of what I am using currently; For my supplement, I use Go with the Flow to ease menopause symptoms. To keep estrogen levels in my body, I use the Bio-Identical USP Progesterone Cream. For a lubricant, I use one of the three I’ve listed (whichever I have available) as needed.
Again, I encourage anyone who wants to go through menopause naturally to talk to your doctor. Let them know that this is the approach you are taking and see what advice he has to offer.
The best way to know how to take on menopause naturally is to do plenty of research and find what works best for you. Check back often as there will be more articles on natural menopause health. Want a hint? There are estrogen rich foods, and flaxseed is one of my favorites.
