I have been writing in journals since my early twenties. Taking a few moments each day to sit and reflect by writing in my journal is something that I’ve always loved.
I was diagnosed with Lupus at the age of twenty-seven while pregnant with my youngest child. As many people with Lupus are aware, this disease causes brain fog and memory loss. As time went on, I had a hard time remembering things about him being a baby. If it weren’t for meditation and my journals, I wouldn’t be able to remember the things about both of my children that I never want to forget.
I’ve also had people in my life who seem to want to rewrite our history together, and it’s always great to reference back to my journal, so I know what took place.
You don’t have to have Lupus or a bad memory to enjoy journaling. There are so many incredible benefits to keeping a journal about your life. Writing down our thoughts by hand improves our minds and helps us to learn easier. It has some of the same benefits as meditation does and can help strengthen our creativity.
Also, Journaling is a fabulous way to practice self-care. It is about taking some time for yourself to reflect on your life. You can write about your goals, what you need to work on, and the beautiful moments you experience. It’s always fun to look back and see how much you’ve grown in your life.
