It was bound to happen. Since my first passion is being a photographer, you knew at some point, there would be a photograph challenge, right? Right!
Last week we found our gratitude friend. My guy tagged me, and we had such a fantastic week of finding unique ways to tell each other how grateful we were for one another. One day he even invoked the help of his mom to send me some grateful love while I left him a grateful message across the bathroom mirror.
I hope you all enjoyed this challenge as much as we did. Learning to be grateful for what our friends are thankful for opens our hearts to even more joy.
This week we are going to continue tapping into our creative side while finding ways to be grateful.
You will need a camera for this challenge. Doesn’t have to be a fancy one, you can use your camera phone if that is all you have. My youngest kid loves to use his polaroid to take creative vintage photographs. So any camera you have will be perfect to apply for this challenge.
As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them. – John F. Kennedy
Your mindfulness challenge for this week is to photograph your gratitude.
Below is a list of each day of the week, followed by a subject. Each day for the next seven days (you can start on whichever day works best for you) photograph something you are grateful for within that subject.
Monday – Food
Tuesday – Work
Wednesday – Nature
Thursday – People
Saturday – Beauty (Anything you find beauty in)
Sunday – Family or Friend
For example. Let’s say you start tomorrow and the subject is work. As you go about your workday, think about the parts that you are grateful for in your job.
You don’t have to pretend to like the parts you don’t. It is about finding joy in all areas of our lives, not bringing focus to the parts we don’t.
If the best part of your workday is the coffee your company serves, then photograph that. Perhaps, it is a co-worker that you adore then take a picture of them. If you work from home or by yourself, what are the things you love about that? Whatever it is, snap the photo!
When we photograph something, we are grateful for we get a simple reminder that no matter what we are doing in life, there is always something for us to be thankful for, and we have proof of it!
If you are keeping a journal of your mindfulness challenges, you can print your photographs each day and place them on the journal page I created for you here.
You can even share this challenge with your kids. It will teach them to connect and be more positive while learning to have an attitude of gratitude. If you don’t have a camera for your child to use, try letting them do this by drawing a picture of what they are grateful for each day.
Have a super fun time doing this! I would love for you to share any experiences you had.
If you have not already signed up for our weekly mindfulness challenge but would like to, please do so here. I would love you to be a part of this mindful tribe!
Peace & Love,
Ela
